Gartenmeister,

I have the Orvis sling and use it on my duck and goose guns. Great sling.

Here's the ones I had made...if you'll notice one is shorter than the other. The shorter one I use on a straight grip gun the longer on a pistol gripped stock.

Joe,

Very nice work! Can you post the end that attaches to the barrel(s)? My old Orvis branded sling has the formed and leather covered barrel band that slides down the tubes and leaves the rib exposed for sighting. It is sized for 12ga bbls and adjustable with buckle but a bit short for my guns with pads...

My bad... Looks like you pictured both ends... Very nice and like the no slip on inside of strap.

jOe that looks like the one I have. I don't like it. You can't see the site front with it on, can you? Great to carry with though...Geo

I can see where it would be a problem on a gun with allot of drop or if someone is sighting flat down the barrel rib.

On my SxS's I can easily see the front bead with the sling at the midway point.

I find slip on slings kind of a pain to use. Although permanently mounted swivels are unsightly, I much prefer them. I use a sling with uncle Mike's quick release swivels extensively on my French boxlock, and find it extremely helpful when handling the dog or scrambling up talus slopes after chukars. And, you don't have to worry about the sling interfering with the line of sight as you do with slip on slings. I do have a nylon slip on that I use with my Lefever, but I tend to avoid it because it's such a pita to put on.
