Eightbore: Bill:
Just get in there and bid at Holts. Lots of fantastic buys. My sources say that many of the guns will go far below the suggested range that they are estimating. Problems with their economy too. Now a great time to pick up the bargains at Holts

I hear every lot is better than described, with no issues to discover once the gun shows up over here.

OWD, is your last post a bit tongue in cheek?

I have bought quite a number of guns at Holt's over the years. Two good sources for shipping to the U.S. from the U.K. are: Diggory Hadoke at VintageGuns .Uk.com and John Farugia at Cheshire Gun Room.com
Both are very experienced, but a word of caution, don't let them be shipped into Charlotte, NC. They will steal your guns there.
Best Regards, George

Any idea what the Charles Daly Diamond grade brought at last week's Rock Island auction?

Wow - it says just about $11,000 for the Daly. That's either cheap or that gun had some major warts.
The straight grip, 12g Lefever EE went for $4300.
Those prices include the premium.

One major wart is the provenance. Those are not Bernard Baruch's initials on the case. The letter of provenance is probably bogus. Nice Lindner, though.

One "Best Buy" is the Model 51 Husqy that sold for $175. This is a fluid steel top lever 29 1/2" hammer gun that was still dragging on the hinge pin. Easily worth three times the selling price. The .600 Nitro on a Mercury duck gun action sold for $6100. If I had been building that gun, I would have used a fresher action, but the barrels seemed professionally sleeved. It seemed to have been well restocked and I would not have been afraid to pull the triggers. I left after the first year non ejector Model 21 with screw chokes (chokes not advertised) sold for $4400. No need to ruin the whole day. Bill, what auction was the model 51 Husky in? Mike

The auction where OWD mentioned a 350 Husky for auction. If I didn't already have a high condition 51, I would have bought it.
