Foxes, Parkers, Bosses, Purdeys, M21, Brownings... There are a ton of good looking guns being sold over the next couple days. Read all about it and get links to the guns: http://www.dogsanddoubles.com/A couple of the rarest I saw: a first-generation H&H Royal in 16g and a 20 gauge by Baltimore Arms. Thanks OWD

If that Baltimore Arms gun was a 20-bore, it really would be a rare find; but it is a 16-bore (an interested friend called on the gun and had chambers measured). I don't recall that Baltimore Arms ever made a 20-bore?

Snipped bbls? 26" seems short.
I've never seen a Balt Arms 20g. That's why it caught my eye.

I don't have a Baltimore Arms catalog; but would think that 26" barrels were cataloged for 16-bore guns, as they certainly were offered by other period makers on their 16-bores. Perhaps Researcher will chime in shortly, as he is an expert on BA guns.

I have two Baltimore Arms Co. catalogues, but I'm about two-thirds of the country away from them. I know Philadelphia Arms Co. only catalogued 28-, 30- and 32-inch barrels, but I can't recall on BAC. In their 1900 model BAC only offered 12-gauges in A-, B- and C-Grades. By the 1902 model they'd added the Trap Gun and the D-Grade, and 16-gauge guns. My only 16-gauge is a 30-inch B-Grade rat of a 1902 model. I've not yet seen and handled a 16-gauge in the 1904 model, and that gun is a 1904 model. Looks like a B-Grade receiver, but C-grade or higher wood. Might be a gun assembled from parts sold at the receivership in 1904. Looks kind of interesting.

Researcher,
Just couldn't stand it ... bought the Baltimore and would love to discuss more when it arrives. The pictures are terrible but appears to have more engraving than a "B" grade, but no "game scene" as a "C" might have ??? The engraving on the trigger bow is interesting and looks "factory" .... neat gun even if the barrels are cut !!

JB32-
Please share here when you get the gun. I would love to learn more about it. It looked real interesting.
How were the other lots? Were prices strong?
Thanks

I was phone bidding on the Baltimore (really liked this gun for whatever "weird reason") and an Ideal and Specialty (wrongly described as it was a pre '13 grade 2) LC Smith's ...
I played "bride's maid" on both ... 2150 on the 20 Ga. Ideal and 1800 on the Grade 2 12 ga. Both guns were worth the money as condition looked good (lot of case on the Ideal), both had ejectors ... 12 ga grade2 was HOT !?!?
Young man I spoke with said they had a "spirited auction" ...

"Hot" would not be a word I would use to describe the Grade 2 Smith. I guess the Ideal can be cleaned up to be worth the selling price, but I would not be paying it. I would like to know what the Browning Trombone went for. It was nice. What about the Model 42? Anyone have a comment on the Model 21?
