If shooting say 6" high, a drilling can be lowered in impact by reaming out for long forcing cones. Found out the hard way, but since have done it on purpose for guns too appropriate for rising birds, shall we say. Don't know about doubles, and it has no effect on single barrels. Removal of front sight can sometimes cause one to bury the top of the rib into the sight picture a bit more. I tend toward increased comb height over barrel bending, but if you must, you must.
