Hi all, upon seeing all the rave reviews for this product, I decided to give it a try. I bought the spray can version.
Anyway, I know what the directions say, but I'd like some practical advise from real users. Here's the question or two:
1) Do you need to degrease/wipe off any pervious oil on the gun to include the bores? If so, what do you use?
2) How much is a "very light application"?
3) When it says to let dry and wipe down, does this mean with another light coat of Eezox or a dry rag?
Any other tips would be welcome.
Thanks again and hope you all have a wonderful Holiday!
Greg

1. Yes, depends, sometimes Acetone. 2. Don't let it drip, it goes hard, and is a pain to get off barrels. 3. Use the same rag, you just want to see a light film. You'll get used to how it works T

I read on another forum to use an artist paint brush for the initial application to avoid too thick a coat. I have the brushes but am waiting to use up most of my current supply of gun oil (I will miss the smell of my Clenzoil!)

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

Yeh, I still have half bottle of Clennzoil. My wife still uses her old 35 mm camera and I have her save the handy film containers for putting various fluids. I too have the Ezzox spray can. When I need oil for a specific spot, I have some sprayed into the container. Even with mineral spts., the snap off cap will not leak turned upside down.

Thanks guys!! I'm slow today, so bare with me.
Do you use the Acetone in the bores also?
Do you let the Acetone dry on its own or do you wipe it dry?
Will the Acetone have any effect on the finish (Blueing or Browning on Damacus bbls)?
So, as I understand it, after you let the first coat dry, you then wipe it down again with some Eezox on your wiping off rag?
How often do you apply Eezox? Each time you clean or when?
Thanks again, sorry for all the questions, just don't want to screw anything up.
Thanks so much and sorry, as I said, I'm slow today (well everyday!)
All the best!
Greg

Acetone won't hurt metal or the finish unless you have a clear coat on the receiver; it will take it off.
Just swab the barrels with acetone. It will dry pretty quickly; just a spritz of Eezox in the bore then swab good. I heard one guy say each time he uses it in the bores, the eisier they are to clean.

Clean the metal so there is no residual oils or lubricant. I simply wet a patch with Gunscrubber to wipe and clean the exterior. Light application is just a few drops on a patch. Not soaking wet. You just want a light film to cover the metal so it gets dry. Here is a video clip on YouTube that is a good tutorial on Ezzox to help answer your questions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFn8wrUPMZ0

I still use Ed's red for bore cleaning sometimes as a first swabbing.
1 part acetone 1 part kerosene 1 part min. spts. l part Dexron ATF

Greg and company, teach us what the application is. I'm not familiar with what you're trying to accomplish so this thread is confusing to me. Thanks for the education.
