I often shoot regular Hevishot or Remington HD in 2 3/4" and 3" loads from my 1930's BSA Wildfowler 3" BLNE gun proven for 1 1/2 oz loads. The previous owner had put in Brileys. I ordered a modified and a full steel compatible tubes from them and everything works fine. It makes a nice rain gun (instead of taking the Benelli SBE II along)and it is quite robustly built with a rather wide action and heavy 30" barrels. It seems to shrug off these rather potent loads.
