Hello,

I do not know if these will fit the berdan cavity,
They appear to have a hole for the anvil but also may
have their own anvil, can not tell????????????//

Thanks Mike, I am nervous about the size and I have found several hundred in the meantime.
Thanks a lot.

The price of Boxer brass shells isn't prohibitive. It's very difficult to remove Berdan primers.

I have a special punch made up to just whack them out of shotshells.

It is as little more difficult on bottlenecked rifle cases, but a berdan primer removal tool makes it easy.
RCBS sells them and the post handle.

and the hydraulic method will work, best done outside with swim trunks on smile

Genelang,
I haven't personallytried this method to remove Berdan primers but it makes sense. You fill the empty casing about 3/4 full of water and then take a hardwood dowel that fits snugly in the shell and finally place the shell on a piece of wood over a small hole drilled in the wood slightly larger than the primer. You push the dowl into the casing and give it a sharp rap with a hammer and hydraulic pressure from the water will push the primer out.
I hope I've explained myself okay, it's easy to invision but hard to explain.
Steve

I know about the hydrolic method. I even tried it once on some surplus shells. It's a wet (make that VERY wet) proposition.

So what, I've never shrunken yet when I've gotten wet. Just do it outside and put a rag over the offending area so water doesn't squirt all over you.

He, he he,

I use the punch and hammer method for straight walled cases.

I just make up a tip to a punch with the diameter of one of the flash holes and insert the punch into the flash hole and tap out the primer, not a real fast effort, but it works.

I even use it for my berdan primed 577 Snider cases.
