Like I said the #4's I bought perform beautiful on the steel pattern plate....when they hit they splatter and make about a dime sized spot just like Bismuth.
I see no reason they will not perform well on any feathered game within 40 to 45 yards.

Destry, what guns do you use to shoot Kent's Tungsten matrix?

If hit with a hammer I'm sure the Tungsten matrix will crush into powder just like Bismuth and the Hevi-shot blend will.

Destry's current "go to" duck gun is a 12 gauge #3 frame 34" Parker DHE choked full and full...he can't "go to" his other favorite, a 32" Browning A-5 because its sitting in my gun room...

Ohhhh, sooooo Mr. Destry doesn't use his doubles all of the time but has gone over to the 'Dark Side' and uses a repeater. I see!!! And I take it he was too ashamed to say it himself and needed someone else to post it for him?

I have used steel in fixed choke BSSs for years, with no ill effects, except to the ducks.

Hi Stan, How is your BSS choked and what size steel shot are you shooting?

Are you people saying that you are shooting modern, high pressure ammunition in vintage fowlers? I've never seen a low pressure KTM shell. And I still have cases of the tungsten polymer Federals, and the TP Kent waterfowl loads as well.
From how they feel out of a standing breach shotgun, I can't imagine they are safe to use in a vintage shotgun.
Whats the deal? Are you people using a cut-off date of manufacture to presume these heavy hitters are safe to use? I have early and late Flues model Ithaca Fowlers (very light and very heavy) that I only use the low pressure ITX shells in, so they see limited use, even though I try to shoot waterfowl every day I can.
Somebody better clue me in here.
Out there doing it best I can.

I shoot Winchester MDL 21's and I'm not concerned about the pressure in the Kent tungsten matrix or Bismuth loads. For steel, I had my BSS rechoked to LM/LM and I shoot everything out of it including Hevi-Shot.

I've been shooting Bismuth sporting loads and Heavyshot classic doubles for ducks in a 1926 f/f choked Sterlingworth. They're probably high pressure for the Sterly, but there's not so much 'kick' to them. Never tried any TM. Most of my duck shooting is with steel 2s in a MirokuDaly with IC&Mod chokes...Geo

Kent 12ga TM 2 1/2-inch 1 1/16oz is 7500psi, and 1oz is 6,500. Use them all the time in my old guns.
A few years ago, an excellent shot rolled his eyes when I asked him to try the 1 1/16 load above. Made a convert on his next shot: an afterburner black at 50 yards.
The good old guns will handle 12ga Kent TM 2 3/4-inch 1 1/4oz at 9500 although I use the former because that's all that needed for killing birds.
