I cant speak for the rest of you, but for me, life beween bird seasons is just existing...same old=same old.Our dove season starts Sept 1, with Nebraska Grouse right behind and then all the rest...Its like being born again without the baptism! After I did chores this morning, I took a ride around the section just east of me, on my 4wheeler. For you city guys, a section is one square mile. I saw all the things I expected to see,Pheasants, Doves, Turkeys, and Deer. I really got the giggles seeing 4 seperate flocks of Prairie Chickens! The bunch right by the house had over 30 birds in it...Life is good...

Ditto Man! I am chomping at the bit for bird season to get here too. I'm going to shoot a few doves early Sept, then mid Sept I'm going to Canada, North of Lake Superior to hunt ducks and Ruffed Grouse and in Oct to the UP for Grouse Hunting. Can't hardly wait. Wishing you guys a great hunting season! Buzz

I know what you mean! I have been watching the birds on my place as well. Unfortunatly we got hit with a couple flash floods during the hatch so the chicks are a little slim. Over a few miles where the rains did not hit things are better. Still have sharptail, huns and pheasant though running around. I start every year over in MT so I can't wait until Thursday. I will be hunting sage grouse, sharptail, and huns.

The only positive note that I can add is that the bays along the North Shore of Nova Scotia where I live are filled with wild Atlantic salmon waiting for their dash up the rivers.

Me, too, George. Saturday afternoon, Monday morning and afternoon. I'm as bad as a 10 yr. old the week before CHRISTmas.

I've got that .410 S x S limbered up and ready to go. I know you're just jealous 'cause you ain't gonna be shootin' one! wink

Not much birding up here but I do get to go on a 12 day float trip for moose, caribou and both bears on Tuesday. I do miss the pheasants and ducks badly.

Mike: Have you tried the great Alaska Ptarmigan. I would love to hunt them some day! Also, there is supposed to be some good Ruffed Grouse hunting in parts of Alaska, I think.
