I have an opportunity to buy an Antonio Zoli Vulcano (28" M/F, DT, sidelock) or a Winchester 101 Pigeon XTR Featherweight(25" IC/M, SST, straight stock). They are both 95%+ and well under $900, but I have to choose 1. I don't need it for a particular purpose as I have guns similar to both, it would just be for fun. Which would you pick?

The Zoli
the Win 101 is probably the better gun, but not with 25" barrels. be way whippy IMO.

or
you could get both.
Can't have too many.

If that Zoli really is a Volcano, that's an extremely good price. My Blue Book (a couple of editions old) shows the Volcano as about a $4K gun. I owned one, traded it--but not because it was not a good gun. Just didn't shoot it very well. Also a good price on the Winchester, but not quite as good as on the Volcano. On the other hand, of the two, it would be easier to move the Winchester if you decide not to keep it.

I'd also go for the Volcano. Why? Because I like it.

Here is one for price reference.

I kind of thought that might be what I'd hear. I have a weak spot for Japanese shotguns, but the Zoli sure looks nice. It's not the newer Vulcano Record, but an older (1960's?)gun. Maybe not worth $4k, but looks like a decent gun.

Hi Larry:

Kindly give us a report of your impressions of this gun. You are in a great position to tell all about it!

It looks like a swell gun.

My choice would also be the Volcano because it looks great!

Good shooting,

Zeke

Thanks for the advice. I went with the zoli. Other than the info listed above I also learned the modified barrel is more like IM, and it has extractors. I was also surprised how exceptional the wood to metal fit is. Now I'd love to hear from someone who has used one. Also, somebody make me feel good and reassure me that it is worth $675!
