Need some guidance! You guys have been great in the past so here goes.
A couple of days age while browsing through the shelves of a local shop I stumbled upon a WW Greener SxS 10 gauge hammer gun labeled "The Club Gun" on the rib. Serial number 251XX. It's complete, unct barrels, no major pitting, no badly buggered screws, a tiny bit loose on face (vertical not side to side)and the top lever is also a tiny bit left of center. The wood has really good figure with no chips or major scratches. Metal work has a tiny bit of very fine rust here and there. Horn butt plate and forend tip are present.
My questions are;
1. About when was it made?
2. Where does it fit in the Greener lineup of that era?
3. Where can I learn more about it?
4. About what is it worth?
As you can probably tell, I'm not a collector but a hunter and shooter that likes good stuff. I use mostly older SxS's to hunt with but I don't have a 10 gauge or a hammer gun. I know there are thousands of old, undesirable hammer guns out there but I rarely see any this nice. This thing is just screaming at me to give it a good home and the care it deserves. My problem is that I know very little about it. Hopefully you guys can help shed a little light on the subject.
Thanks again,
TomR
