Gentlemen, I know this is like throwing red meat to the lions...but it's important to me to know how I should be chemically treating my SxS's. Most are older vintage. "just like you, Dad!" as my boys tell me...
What is the best gun oil/combo for cleaning, maintaining and preserving the metal without harming the wood?
Appreciated!

With kind regards, Jani

I must admit that in over 50 years using rifles, pistols and shotguns I havent found anything better than Ballistol, apart from firearms it's a great treatment for restoring leather. Hoppes No 9 I use as aftershave. lol.

Is Eezox a good choice for lubricating and protecting the internals of a boxlock action? I had some rusting occur a couple of years ago on a A.H. Fox that saw a couple very wet days of hunting and did my best to clean it up and sprayed with Breakfree. I haven't been very comfortable with that choice ever since and have wondered if Eezox is a better choice for this area. Or, is there a grease that should be applied to any internals as well?

If it's wet inside, spray it with WD 40, which displaces water. THEN use Eezox.

-jmc Eezox is great stuff. It is all I use. It will protect the metal for your internals just as well as the exterior of your gun. Follow the instructions for cleaning and using Eezox from the gun care information page. The key is a little goes a long way. You want it to dry not puddle if you use too much. It is heavier than water and per the website is 10.42 pounds per gallon vs. 8.34 of water weight. I filled a glass of water and squeezed a few drops of Eezox just to see and the droplets sank to the bottom like a rock. So the next time you get in bad weather hunting and it gets wet, you know it will be protected.

For those of you using Eex-ox, do you use it exclusively - ie, as a bore cleaner, lubricant and corrosion protection?
The materials I read about it said you should treat the bores with it and then they would not require regular cleaning like with oil products. Have you found that to be the case?
Do you use it in place of grease on the critical bearing points like the hinge pin?
Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.
