What I find interesting is that Ed says he is providing buyers with what they want, but that GH with the rainbow receiver has been up on GB for a very long time...
In regards to my bringing up the Ithaca "touch up" of case colors. I was simply pointing out that even manufacturers have used some methods of restoring color to receivers, but that it was done by much more legitimate means than torching them.
I agree that case colors touched up with cold blue would not look all that great. At least it does not sound like it would. I am sure that some heating was required to do this, but that is typical of "cold" blues. they seem to work better if the metal is warmed a bit (when I say warmed, I mean you can still handle the metal afterwards). This could be done with a heat gun or even warming in an oven.
