soon it will be october again... get mentally ready with a "good" bird hunting book. some of my favorites include:

new england grouse shooting, by foster
the upland shooting life, by evans
a hunters road, by fergus
a rough shooting dog, by the other fergus
knight of the trigger, by muderlak

any you wish to add to the list?

I'm with Bobby! My favorite is "My Health Always Get Better in November" given to me by my shooting student and doublegun mentor Joe Wood.

Best,

Mike

Babcok was an upland hunter.
Buckingham was a duck and dog man.
Gene Hill just pure fun regardless of what he was doing.

The list has to include Robert Ruark's "Old Man and the Boy" and also "The Boy Grows Older". Ernest Hemingway's hunting stories are priceless and probably the best written of the whole group.

We had so few great upland writers I'd be very hesitant to criticise any of them. I know I've read all of the works of these listed authors time and again and never tire of their timeless stories.

dittos for robert ruark. anybody ever read "the honey badger", "poor no more" and "women". not about bird hunting, but certainly about life.
