I had a similar problem a few moths ago with a broken main v spring.
I bought from Numrich arms a V spring that costs me only $7.50 (plus shiping).
The spring required a lot of file and snadpaper work to fit, but it is working great.
I do not bought the spring from a catalog; a nice person was in comunication with me via e-mail. Send photos and dimensions and the guy search for the part. He told me that they have hundreds of v springs, perhaps not new because they have some rust, but you can save lots of money.
If you have the time and certain hand ability you can do it cheap this way!!!
