It's easy to tell when people are getting tired of summer and want the fall bird seasons to open. They show signs of the heat going to their heads.

In case anyone sweltering elsewhere in the States might be interested, today's high in Portland will be in the mid-80s with a breeze (probably shifting to come from the 60-ish ocean, later in the day) and the lows the next couple nights will be in the mid-50s. The weatherman suggests it might even get down into the 40s in some of the more remote mountain valleys.

And people wonder why the sign at the state line says "Maine. The Way Life Should Be."

Life is supposed to consist of one of the highest tax rates in the US, six month winters, temps down to 40 below, with high rate of poverty and unemployment? grin

we got better weather in nh; dryer and not so raw in the winter. plus, no sales tax. no state income tax. smaller government. less welfare dependency. less piney woods.

now, if we could just git some of them maine pat ridges to cum cross tha borda...plus, a little more salt wata would be nice... and then there are tha lobstas...

Well, if we're just braggin about best weather, it's gonna be about 83F at my house today, 2 miles from the coast and the afternoon consistantly brings a seabreeze that cools down rapidly. No fair mentioning Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, or all the fruits and nuts.

Wellllllll, it's 97 here today, and humidity is climbing. The rest of this week the heat index, due to the humidity, is supposed to be 110-112. Bright side is that it, and the gnats, runs the yankees back north for a few months. I guess it's worth it. laugh

The promise of this makes it worth waiting for September.

44 days and a wake-up!

Is that all you got?

You left out the "no Sunday huntin'".

And what's wrong with winter, anyway? Dontcha know that, when the snowflakes see a car coming with a Maine plate on its' bumper, they just move out of the way? I happen to like winter - fewer bugs.

I like both Maine and NH. Wouldn't mind a place in GA. either! I hear the heathens are working on changing those Sunday blue laws in Maine. Shame to do something after Mass. did though...
