I have a JP Saure 12 gauge 26" imp/mod barrels. Barrel flats are marked crown with N under it marked 12/70 2 3/4" numbers 12 59. Bottom plate has oval with figure holding a long staff or spear in the center of the oval.STOGER ARMS CORP NEW YORK MADE IN GERMANY stamped around the outside of the oval.A circle with a triangle stamped on plate and bbl. flat. The barrels stamped JP SAUER & SOHN made in West Germany Lpezlal Laulstahl Bochumer Verein 12/70/2/34".The gun has a single trigger. I can not provide any pictures, can anyone give me any information on this gun with my description ? I know it is a 12 gauge 2 3/4" improved/ modified.Any help on dates of manfacture etc. etc. would greatly be appreciated.

More than likely "1259" is the proof date for December 1959. The tube steel would be Spezial Laufstahl ...." Any cocking or loaded indicators and are there screws at the top and bottom at the rear of the receiver?

Kind Regards,

The 12 and 59 have alarge space between them There is a screw holding the bottom plate also a screw under the trigger guard that goes to the top of the receiver back of the safety. No cocking indicators no crossbolt has a screw through lever. Has no screw under lever.Stock is pinned and looks factory to me.The buttplate reads original sauer made in Germany.Thank's ellenbr for the response. oldokieknife

The "man with staff in hand" is the "Wilder Mann", the old trademark of Sauer & Sohn, called "caveman" by Americans.
