Having pulled a few ribs now, I can say so called "solid ribs" are sometimes hollow channels. Some if not all the swamped ribs are indeed truly solid.

Established gun terminology is sometimes misleading...to me at least. For example, "sleeving" a shotgun is not what a machinist would ever think of calling chopping off the barrels of a gun, boring out the chambers, and turning new tubes to fit in. I would have called it re-tubing or something. "Sleeving" makes me think of boring out something and pressing in a "sleeve". So, since the term "sleeving" was taken already, Teague had to use the term "lining" or "relining".
