I reload them using 17 gr. Pb, 1 oz shot and wads from Ballistic Products.Seal with overshot wad and Waterglass(Sodium Silicate). The Waterglass thanks to Amarillo Mike.

Do Cheddites readily accept non-Cheddite primers or is modification of the primer hole necessary?
BTW, some folks improvise without the MEC short kit and stack two coins or washers together for placement under the shell for crimping stages.

FWIW, if you don't already know, there's a whole bunch offolks over at 16ga.com devoted to reloading for short-chambered 16 ga. guns, with a wealth of experience to share. And lots of load data, too.

I've noticed that the Cheddite hulls are a little larger in internal diameter and find that the Gualandi wads, which are a little larger in diameter work well. I use the 1618 in 2 1/2" hulls with 17gr of PB and 7/8 oz shot.
P.S. With the clear and red Cheddite hulls you can see if powder is being pushed/blown from under the wad and up the sides of the hull.

Yes, Cheddite hulls accept all the 209 primers, Win, Rem, CCI and so forth.......... There is a "name" for the "improvise" you mention, but I don't think I can post it here.......for 20 bucks, I find the short kit worth it's cost........"piece of puddin"..........I have them on my 12, 16 and 20 ga. machines..... Cheers,
Doug

Or, instead of a short kit, you could just go over to roll crimping. Unlike a star crimper, a roll crimper knows nothing about shell length....
