I have been using Nitro 100 for basically all my 12 ga low pressure loads. It is OK, sometimes it seems a little bit punchy. I am wondering if there might be a better powder, trying to keep pressures below 6k, maybe even 5500. Using 7/8 oz AA's and a Win clone wad with Win or Chedite 209s. Thank you!

I've used SR7625 in '24gram' shot loads in 12ga with AA cases.
24gram is .85 where 7/8oz is .875,,I think I got that right.

Plenty of loads on the IMR site with CB1100 wads or Winchester brand wads and Win209 primers.
Just search for '24gram' shot weight & 7625 powder.

I've been using Cheddites and a standard 7/8 loading bar in my MEC,,but that's my decision,,and not on the chart.

Pressures run from 3500 to 5000psi with velocity at 1150 to 1325fps.
I don't think any combination of components on the charts gets a rating over 6400psi. Most in the 4000/5000psi range.

Not the clean burning propertys of Clays and some others, but it's not BP either.
Reminds me of RedDot in what's left behind in the bore from shooting.

You will find that 1200 fps 6000psi loads are easily doable using Extra-Lite powder in the Fed paper cases w/the CB 6100 wad. The Federal paper cases smell correct when fired, too. Backing off slightly should put you in the ballpark for what you are seeking. Anyway, the nice thing about their 'reloaders guide' is that it lets you specify what components you might like to search. Should you not find them specifically listed, they are also very customer oriented & will guide you toward what you need, if you contact them. They are 'shooters' as well as ballisticians, it's a happy combination. Same may be said for Hogdon's. As a rule, not everything tested is published & I have been told that the tendency is to generally NOT publish loads below 7000 psi for fear that some OP may have a less than desireable experience trying to use said loads for a 'rusty' ill cared for semi-auto .. and none of them need the grief sure to be associated w/that sort of experience. It's similar to why the ammunition makers load 'hot' light weight promotional ammo .. they want a clunky rusty semi-auto to function with it.

You may also wish to check w/Ballistic Products as they have a lot of good test data & components for same. I have had very good experiences with their VP05 wads in light charge weight 12 ga. loads. Prices are most attractive on case lots of 6K; they are 'bulk' packed.

Lastly, I have never understood the concern over powder residue. I'd be willing to bet that most any posting on this site clean their guns after each use, correctly. I'll easily concede that some powders burn leaving less residue that others, but do not make that a criteria for choosing a powder, far from it.

we do basically this recipe and it's beyond mild. kills clays (and birds) fine.

IMR PB powder was the ticket for me. Had all sorts of problems coming up with reloads that were in the 5-6 thousand range and then I found that a lot of recipes on the Parker site used PB. After a few tries I had a nice load for 2 1/2" hulls I got at Graf's. Tom Armbrust verified my load at 5,600 psi at 1,125 fps.

I also believe Pb is the answer. I use it for all my 12 ga and 10 low pressure loads and it has excellent ignition and low pressures.
I use 20 gr in AA types for 12 ga- 1 oz, and 24 gr in the 10 ga with 1 1/4 oz

Is your 10 gauge load for the 2-7/8 inch case and if so, is it roll-crimped or fold crimp?
