Not to belabor the point, but the original question was about an auction house listing a Parker as a D3. If that was found on the receiver flats, it's just the grade in letters and numbers. If it was taken from the barrel flat, the D would mean Damascus and the 3 might be the grade or the "other" three which could have meant damascus type. In that latter case, the grade of the gun would not be apparent from the auction house listing. If the auction house knew it's stuff, like the " Parker guys" they might have listed the gun with both the grade and the barrel info. But , some auction houses are not experts in all things.
