Actually, Harold (Harry) Miller was a well-known inventor back in the 1930s. He is credited with inventing the artificial appendix, the All Aluminum New Double Gun (AANDG) and the cast iron tennis racquet.
He never recieved recognition during his lifetime, and unfortunately never recieved recognition afterward. His son, Barry, was also an inventor and invented the styrofoam golf club.

Phillip, what a special, and very nice, Model 21. I hope you have documented your ownership of this gun to be passed along to it's next caretaker when that time comes.

Philip: The engraving pattern on your 21 is beautiful and unusual. Do you know if it is factory engraved? Cody firearms museum has records on such things which you may know. If indeed that is factory and although I am not an expert I would say that gun is pretty rare and valuable. 12 ga?

Phil's gun was not factory engraved, and the artist did not sign his work; but evidence seems to indicate the gun was engraved by Arnold Griebel. The gun is fully documented and will be featured in a future issue of the DGJ.

Me too. I recently owned a Stevens 311 20ga; on the underside of the forearm was carved "G.S. 1960". The gun dated from 1960, so I've often wondered if G.S. was a young fella in 1960, and was gifted that gun on a special occasion, or maybe found it under the tree.

I'm sure you've already looked it up, but here's a link to Marshall Field: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Field's

My grandfather received a 410 single shot for Christmas when he was nine. He promply carved H. C. 1918 on the stock. He went on to collect many limits of quail with it back when the limit was 50 birds. It now belongs to my brother, Hunter who was named after him.
