That was my recollection too, Tanky. Under that scenario could the components be provided for 3K? Recently CSMC had some barrel sets on closeout for 700.00, built by Merkel. I wouldn't think that they were taking a loss on them. The point being that components can be had from quality vendors at reasonable cost.
I would find a way to purchase one of the "in the white" project guns if the price was around 3K. I would think that for another 3K you could get it stocked and finished, sans all the glitter. Some minimal, sparse engraving might be in there too.
