I have a model 37 signed by MaGraw, gun was done special for Ed Thompson who worked for Ithica.

Here's a Harry Gough (H. Gough) signiture on a Parker. I remembered to take a picture of it unlike the few others I've come accross over the years. Rare to see any signiture on old factory work.
Parker AA grade if I remember right.
Really tough if not impossible to see this one unless the trigger guard is off.
Scan of old photo so the quality not the best. (Good excuse for lack of picture taking abilitys)

I have some others around but I've not run accross them.
One of an LCSmith with a Glahn signiture on the upper tang by the receiver,,unfortunetly the 'artist' mispelled the name.
I sent one of a Wm H Gough signiture in the same position as the Parker pic above but on a FE Fox to FEGA for their historical records.
I think Wm. used 'engraver & designer' (abreviated) in this signiture line.

Kutter, the Smith A2 I have is signed Glahn Sc. Location is under top lever.

That's where this one was 'signed'. You had to move the lever slightly to the right to reveal the signiture.
It was layed out at about the same lengthwise angle/line as the left edge of the top lever (if that makes sense!)
The copy artist must have slept through spelling class.

My A2 was also signed by Glahn.

It was common for 19th century and earlier engravers to use Sc. (sculptor) after their names rather than Eng., Engr. Engraver, or Inc. (in the case of Italian engravers). This applies especially to those who engraved plates and wood blocks for printed art and banknotes.

Carlton Ennis, who engraved for Remington and was apprenticed to Joe Loy was one of the best of his time. Expecially his relief inlayed animals. His daughter told me that he would sometimes sneak an "E" into a game scene on some of his more elaborate jobs. While examining a particularly nice F Premier 760 at the Louisville gun show I found the E just as the lady had advised.
