Will be there on Friday- Tuesday hunting javelina & quail on the San Carlos.

Any local spots for some good food? The casino food sucks, I suspect there are some fast food places but what about some good southwest cooking, steaks, etc.?

Thanks, Rob

The used to be a little down town joint on the East end North side of the main street(not the highway!) that had good food but I haven't been there in years.

Looks like there are some good Mexican joints but that's it. That'll do for a few days.

Thanks, Rob

Recoil, your kidding right? You expect to find a good restaurant in a copper mining town of 7000 population? Just be grateful there is a McDonalds there so you can get hot coffee!

Hey Jerry,

I did some Googling last night and the name Guayos came up 3-4 times, from diverse sources as being excellent Mexican.

I'm not looking for a fine dining place, just an alternative to fast food, the casino buffet, and some good honest food.

I will report back if not in the hospital with food poisoning.

I checked Zagats and there's not much in all of AZ that get's any kind of rating, I think less than 100 places for the whole state. I guess all the tourists eat at the hotels.

Rob,
I know what you mean. I spend several days in Springerville,AZ once a year. The only sitdown place was Bugger Red's for years. Now there's the place on the east end of town and another out west (besides the McD)

Guayos is the place in Globe/Miami. Worked in Globe in the late 60's/early 70.s. Guayos was great then, went back this year, the're still in business and still good. I think that the same family is still running the place.
