Nicest one there? Probably one of the nicest ones around in general. I have never seen any in that condition-not that that means much.

Saw one, not as nice as yours today in a gunshop with a price of, get this now, $1,150.00. Just about fell over when I saw it. Talk about prices getting a little out of hand and dealers who do not know hat they have. I bet that your did not set you back that much.
I picked one up several months ago that must be as close to unfired as any I have ever seen. No wear, no signs of shell wear on breech face, no rub marking from assembly and opening and closing gun. One very minor ding on the stock that is tiny. Bought it on line at an auction site for Less than 400. Fuzzy pictures and poor description got me to take a chance. Even with fuzzy pictures it looked like the case color was good so I made the min. bid and won it. I smiled ear to eat when I saw how nice it was. Too nice to shoot.

Thanks guys. Worth the $450.00? It has a few blemishes on it. But it really is in super shape. Pristine bores, no cracks, I admit it does have the wrong buttplate on it though. I can fix that. I agree with too nice to shoot. Looks like we both got lucky.

Didn't someone warn that we'd bring up the price of N.S's by talking them up a few months ago? What's next? 311's? God Help us hardware store gun types! Chops

I think that was me. So wanna buy a 311? Got one for $1,500.00 I'll part with ;-)
I actually saw a LOT of them last weekend. A dozen or so. Most were 50% or less. Prices were from $275.00 and up. Mine was the "up".

I'm curious as to why you think it's the wong buttplate? They came with a few different types over the years, as did Ithacas.
Yours looks as though the wood could have shrunk a bit so the buttplate could be proud of the wood, but it may still be the correct one. Would seem odd to have such a pristine gun with the buttplate changed. It's a looker for sure, nice wood finish.

Hey Rob, It just looks after market, like maybe it had a pad on it at one time and then it was taken off and replaced with a generic one. Can't say I have seen a Nitro with this pad ever. Thanks for the comps.

Certainly agree that's a nice gun, but too nice to shoot? What's it for, then?
