Pre-1899 manufactured rifles are considered antiques, even if they use currently available cartridges. As an example, Ludwig Lowe marked M95 Chilean 7x57 Mausers are officially classified as antiques by the BATF because Lowe was absorbed into DWM prior to 1899 and the Lowe markings were then no longer used on actions.
Post-1898 manufactured replicas are an entirely different question. They certainly are not antiques based on the pre-1899 manufacture qualification.
Note that the pre-1899 manufacture qualification continues to "stand-alone" in current BATF documentation. It is sufficient in and of itself.
