I have posted some pictures of this gun up before, but every time I pull it out of the safe I am in awe of the engraving. I thought I would try and get some good pics of it with the digital SLR.

According to Graeme Greener: The Gun was sold new in 1883 at the Paris Gun show. It was a best grade gun, the only better gun at the time was a Royal grade.

It was one of a pair - I dont know where its mate is. I have shot sporting clays with it using 1 ounce 2 1/2 inch nitro shells.

It was stamped nitro proof at some stage.

She locks up very tight, but shows signs of lots of handling and use. I often ponder the stories she could tell.

It shoots flat and does kick up at the front a bit - probably good for birds on the rise?

Anyway, hope you like it up close.

What is it about these old guns that draws us in?
