Google the patent #505006, very interesting method of joining the barrels to the breech piece. Dovetails on the barrels around it's perimeter turn into recesses cut into the breecg piece and lock in.

I have a Lindner Daly Diamond Grade with similar or identical patent markings on both barrels. It is about an 1899 gun. The clamshell action, if it is on face and tight, and the wood fit is well preserved, would make anyone want this gun.

My Ca 1900 Sauer sidelock made for & sold by VL&D on the American market is marked Sauer & Son, not Sauer & Sohn for whatever it's worth. A 75cm bbl would be just over 29½" while a 76cm one would be just under 29 15/16". I believe both were fairly common metric lengths. Mine is an even 30".

Builder, as usual, Miller is providing good information. I would guess 75 cm originally. The 3-ring Krupp barrel markings on this gun are really quaint; not many of those old markings are seen and they are similar to the Excelsior steel markings seen on Lindner Dalys. Old Sauer sidelock guns commonly had these cocking indicators that got smaller as time passed. Shooters were really nervous about the "new" hammerless gun craze and wanted to see mini hammers on the side to tell if the gun was really cocked or not. Crystal indicators are another manifestation of this same desire.

Originally it was 730 mm or 28&3/4" I believe. Take a look in Sauer cathalogs at the time.

Unfortunatley, I don't have the catalogues nor do I know where to find the info but I would point out the left barrel choke is about a 1-1/2" long. From that I assumed the original choke might be 3" long and arrived at 30" barrels (Maybe). I have no clue as to whether they were originally 3".

I never saw 3" long chokes besides paradox. 1" or 1/2" long you can't say, but both could be original. What makes you think bbls been cut? From what I can see, bbls ribs been re-soldered probably, that's why muzzle looks this way. It's easy to fix.

The distance between the barrels at the muzzle seemed too wide. I was under the impression that almost all guns have their muzzles touching or very close. Your thoughts on this?

My thought's also ran that way but it would be tough to make those barrels touch with just another 1-1/2" of length. I had to lop about 6" off a 30" Stevens to get that much spread between the barrels
(mea culpa, mea culpa, done in an uninformed youth).
