That's interesting. In McIntosh's book on the Fox, he stated that at some point after Savage bought the company, any Fox returned to the factory for work would automatically have the chambers lengthened to 2 3/4". I wonder if Savage started chambering new Foxes at 2 3/4", and so marked the barrels, prior to that catalogue reference. Comments, from owners of Savage-era Foxes??
