Can you use modern loads in these guns, I have one and do use modern loads but would appreciate someone with better knowledge to confirm safe use of nitro specials and modern loads. The serial number on my 12 ga is 345831 it says Lefever Nitro Special on 1 barrel and Lefevor Arms Branch Ithaca Gun Co. Inc.Ithaca NY on other barrel. Barrels are marked on right +4 and left +2 Also marked LLH on the barrel.Has a flying goose on ea side of receiver. I also have a nice 16 ga which I think is a Flues serial number 356012 Barrels marked 4 and 4, on right barrel is marked smokeless powder steel, and left barrel is marked Made in USA. Along with the serial number on the forend is the letter S. The receiver has a setter on ea. side and Ithaca Gun Co. Ithaca N.Y.On receiver flats? if that is what its called was the number 16 with a S over it. I can take pictures of these if anyone wants to see them or post them but I don't know how to post them but can email to someone. I think I have used both with modern shells but really wonder if I should. both guns are in very nice condition.
