Hi folks. This gun has an interesting and amusing (was, isn't now) story behind it. I bought it for 100. The barrels were in shocking condition with multiple pits and a horror story inside. On that basis I decided it was US and gave the stock to a friend of mine who wanted to learn how to checker. Several months later with the bits left in the safe a friend reckoned I should get it sleeved...so I took it to someone in the trade and decided that it wasn't worth the cost (1800 at least). However I took it to another barrel bore expert and he reckoned he'd have a go...anyway...got a phone call 2 days ago and it's passed proof! I nearly dropped the phone...he's now getting it re-ribbed for me and polished up...jees...better get that stock back asap....and now the bombshell...my mate had a go...and it's a horrible mess (didn't quite, but almost did, have the heart to tell him it looked like a 5 year old with a blunt spoon had had a go)..quite a bit of work to be done on the stock...take a look at the pictures...however...the locks are lovely and nicely made. It's a nice little 20 bore hammer which one sees too few of...

Can't start work until I get out of hospital (major lung surgery this Friday to remove cancer from my left lung) but on my return I shall start...cross everything as they say! :S

Here are the pictures...

Hey Tony,
Good luck with your surgery. I'll hope for a speedy and full recovery for you. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your restoration posts. It's been cool to watch you tackle these jobs.
Looking forward to great things to come from you.

Tony,
Back in 1997 a friend of mine had the surgery your getting (and earned the name "One Lung Dave". One Lung Dave and I climbed Washington States Mt. Rainier (14,411') the following year.
Good luck with your surgery.
Steve
BTW that's some compliment you got from HomelessjOe, you should frame that!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I've met some nice virtual friends here that's for sure. I have two kids to fight for and will continue to remain ultra positive and fight like mad to beat this horrible thing inside me I have no control over!

Besides, I want to continue my learned restoration work!

/salute fellas!

Good luck on the surgery and be well. We're all pulling for you.

Now, you have to find out whether the doctor is also into shooting (or might like to be) and then let him see what kind of a deal he might be able to swing (show him the before and after on the last gun) if he can get you though this.
