James, we live on the south boundary of Riding Mountain National Park. We are at 2400 feet elevation so no flooding for us. No so for other folks, you can't get a hotel room in Winnipeg due to all the evacuees. Really bad in Brandon, the Assiniboine river is really high. 2" of rain on Saturday, be a while before that river goes down. Mike

My guide was Les Nelson from Minatonis(sp?). Beautiful country up there. My hunting experience and the friendly people were 100%.
Practice safe eating. Always use a condiment.

Very nice spot Mike. My brothers and I have a lodge at Delta Marsh and have also done a bunch of goose shooting over the years at Olha. You are in a great part of the province. Glad to hear you are out of harms way.
Regards, James

Olha! Well James, that is close to here as you know. We have world class flyfishing for trout up here in several stocked lakes. Rainbow, brown and tiger trout. Patterson Lake is close to Olha, the parking lot is full of American campers every year. The lake, like others around is aerated throught out the winter to oxygenate the water. Our American cousins who come up to fish beg us to keep quiet. Your best kept secret, they say, don't tell too many Americans about this heavenly spot or they'll crowd us out! JRB, that's Les Nelson from Minitonas near Swan River, I have heard of Les, a good operator! I shot one black bear 30 years ago and would never shoot another unless it was bothering the livestock. We have them here, there is a cow moose running around with two youngsters too. We had lots of elk but they contributed to the spread of disease to cattle so our herd was culled, so we seldom see them, but my neighbours have them. It'a a nice place to live. The winters are too long, but a week or two in Cuba in February makes it worthwhile. Mike

Mike - Were you in Cuba for bonefishing? A British friend of mine was there several times, and found that the experience deteriorated each time. Long boat rides,so-so fishing.

No, tudurgs, we went for the sun and rum! The beer is excellent too! We looked at a fishing excursion, it was too pricey for us, and if we caught any, there was no facility for cooking them. So we passed. Mike
