I did a search for the Ithaca o/u and I hate to say it, but my first impressions is that its going to go over like a turd in the punch bowl.

They say its a sporting clay gun, but their only offering it in 26, 28, and 30 barrels lengths when most sporting clay shooters these days are going with 32 barrels.

The receiver looks deeper than a Browning!! There is around a of material over the top barrel at the receiver.

It looks like a 3/8 gap between the barrels.

I really want a US made o/u for sporting clay, and had high hopes after reading that they would be around $2500, but after seeing it, I dont think so.

About the only U.S. made over and under for sporting clays is the Ruger Red Label. Cheaper than Dirt has them priced at $1,454.49. Other than that, I think your chances of finding one for the price that you quoted and made in the U.S are like trying to find out if there is Gold in Fort Knox. Have you clicked on to Double Eagle Trading Company, out of Nevada? He has some nice Winchester 101s and 6500 Sporting Clay Models for under $2500. Good luck in your endeavors.

For now I will stick with my Browning 425 until someone offers a good US made sporting clay gun for under $5,000. I would have bought a A-10 when it was first offered at $4,800.00, but I am left handed and they wanted too much for the left handed stock option.

I like Rugers, but I think the Browning 425 better suited for sporting clays than the Red Label.

I agree with your favoring your Browning 425 over the Ruger. I used to work in what was known as Galyan's Sporting Good in Fair Lakes, Va. We sold a lot of Browning Citoris and Berettas. Both of them are very nice and very well built. The Ruger was okay, but I didn't like the way those barrels plopped out of the action when you moved the lever to the right. Dind't sell a whole lot of them.
