Stripped my boxlock- dozens of pieces in a box now! After cleaning the decades old crud off the parts and reassembly how should I lube the action? Oil? Grease? What brand or type?

Pick one. You won't be able to tell any difference over the life of the gun, IMO.
I like Mobil 1 motor oil for pins and Mobil 1 grease for places I want the lube to stay put that I can get it on the surface. Some of the guys are using some kind of "turbine oil" and swear by it. I have an open quart of Mobil 1 motor oil and I'll think about switching when I use that quart up on my guns.

I use Ezzox; brush it on with a small artist's brush. It gets dry yet leaves a tough lube film. Don't have to worry about it migrating to the wood, although it's not supposed to harm wood like oil or grease. Grease won't go anywhere though. http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=207576#Post207576I cleaned a boxlock used by the military in WWII. They put a pretty heave layer of grease inside and it never got to the wood. After almost 60 years, it was getting pretty dry.

I'm with Chuck except I use Mobil 28 grease (you are unlikely to tell the difference outside a lab).
