I have a old W&C Scott and Son 12ga. Very old, external hammers, it's rather lose, obviously not safe to shoot in current condition.
I'm in NE Florida and I'm wondering if anyone can recomend a reliable, honest, knowledgable, guy who can give me a honest assessment of what it is worth.
There is a young man in Boston who wants to buy it but I have no way to give him a fair price and he has no way to value it either. Obviously I don't want to give it away but I do not want to be unreasonable either. In fact as this thing has just sat in the safe for, well decades, I think it would be a better use for it to be out and fixed and enjoyed by someone, so if you've any suggestions they'd be appreciated.

Joe, Don Amos aka Rocketman is an engineer of some renown. He developed the concept for, designed and constructed an apparatus which measures MOI ( momentum of inertia )of guns, which tool is most valuable in appraising the handling characteristics of double guns. Being an Engineer and due to his personal bent he approaches issues and questions with objectivity and critical analysis whch results in clarity of definitions and better understanding. His guide to gun value is definitely a good tool for appraising guns as we often let solely emotions guide our decision. I regard his opinions as being well thought through and of substantial benefit.
