Today at the Allentown gunshow I bought a very old but very fine BSA air rifle. It's a Standard Model in .22 that had new seals and spring fitted in England a few years ago. I've wanted one since I was a kid but in 45 years of gun shows I've seen only one other and that was way over priced. They sure don't make 'em like this anymore. Other than this item there were a fair number of doubles but the prices have gone insane.

I have the Anchutz pistol and rifle as used in th Olympics. $1500 each plus the SCUBA bottle to charge them. You are right. They do not make then like that anymore. Both will shoot 60 .17" pellets at 10 meters from a machine rest and the hole will be .20".

Nialmac,
The bsa standard air rifles are wonderful" guns" made from 1919 until the start of WWII . I have 3 of them & use them for crow control in the city-no noise. A english firm P & J Springs have quite a few parts if required. One word of warning don't dry fire the gun ( ie no pellet in the loading chamber) & use the proper cylinder oil which is not oil based.

Another unique BSA marvel of engineering is the 22 semi automatic Ralock (radial lock) rifle. My Dad borrowed one from a neighbour in England when I was 12. I used it on rabbits until the owner asked for it back. It took me 50 years to find another and I did, here in Canada. Bought it in a flash. You can Google for a BSA Ralock if you want to see one. I also had a pre-war BSA air rifle with no forend, under lever, tap to load the 22 pellet. I'm looking for a replacement after 53 years! Used to shoot woodpigeons at night with a lamp off the roost, legal in those days anyway and safer than a 22 under the circumstances.

nialmac, did you see that one set-up near the entrance, I think it was E section that had quite a few doubles, a lot of Sauers. He had one nice 16 ga VH Parker on an O frame, decent shape, screws were good for $3895.00. He said he would come down to $3600.00. Nice gun but I thought too high.
I heard from yesterday and today that 7,500 people paid to get in. Nice showing. Some decent stuff.
