Years ago, before I knew as littlle as I do know I was the Kittery trading postt in Maine. I found a 3 digit serial numbered M94, a first year of production! My first tip off should have been it was a 30-30 which wasn't introduced until a few years later.

Turns out it was original from the breech back, the gun had been rebarrled with a modern barrel and forend. It left the factory as a 38-55 rifle.
