I picked up this little Rook rifle the other day: It has been re-lined and re-chambered to 32 S & W calibre. I intend to have it fitted with the little German Oigee make scopes in the picture. It is not original so I'm not spoiling anything. There is no name on the rifle. The problem I have is that pistol shooting was effectively banned in mainland Britain so the demand for ammunition in this calibre disappeared more or less overnight. I have managed to source a bit of ammunition, some bullets and a set of dies. I was wondering if any of the U.K. forum members who have close links with the trade know of any empty cases in this calibre that may be lying around in stock somewhere. Also ammo if not too far to travel. I used to load thousands of rounds of this stuff prior to the ban as it was popular as a target round. Now is like rocking horse dung. Lagopus..... frustrated rifle owner!

Lagopus: Best of luck with the rifle ammunition. But for all its "glories," socialist Britain is not the best for shooting rifled arms. Enjoy your visit to the States next week... maybe you can pick up some components then. But UK customs is no fun either.
Best, Kensal

Looks like my perrins 410, which was originaly a rook rifle, may have come from the same source in Birmingham. not sure what calibre it was originaly. I would guess you can still get 32 S&W as lots of humane killers taker this round. Have you had a look at kranks web site - they do alot of brass. john

If brass is all you need, couldn't you buy that from the US, or is that illegal as well?

Kensal, sorry, not coming to the U.S. must be confused with some one else. We got rid of the Solialist Government at the last election. Rifle shooting is not too bad but pistol shooting is out unless you live in Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man where it is still legal. It was only banned in mainland England, Scotland and Wales. With .32 S&W Long being a pistol calibre no-one stocks it much but as Oldfarmer says, it is still used in humane killers for aminal destruction which is the only legal way of owning a pistol for use here.
Oldfarmer, I contacted Kranks who list Privi Partisan ammo in that calibre but they have none. He does have a dealer friend coming over from the Isle of Man, where pistol shooting is still legal, and he is to see if he can bring some stuff across if he has some. I have found some Remington ammunition in stock at Edgar Bros. Macclesfield and ordered 100 rounds plus some Sellier & Bellot bullets. You would faint at the price of loaded ammo in that calibre hence only 100 rounds, which should keep me going as I have some Lee dies on order from Tim Hannam.
Genelang, I should have no problems sending to the U.S. for brass as there is no restriction on importing that sort of thing into the U.K. but was hoping to track some down here in order to keep costs down.
Mike - Skeetex, it is .32 S&W Long that I require. There is no restriction at all for empty brass to come through Customs and I would gladly refund any costs incurred or send something in return. Some years ago; pre Blair, I used to load thousands of rounds of the stuff for a friend who shot competition pistol in that calibre. We were allowed some compensation for the enforced confiscation so I sent in my dies and brass for a small cash return. If I had been gifted with sufficient foresight I would have been o.k. I do have another Rook rifle in .360 No.5 but I can make ammo from .38 Special brass which is available because of its use in lever action rifles. Thanks one and all for your replies. Lagopus.....

Let me dig through my empty brass collection and see what I have. Will be a week or three as having my 21 yr. old artificial knee replaced on Mon. and all my reloading stuff in basement and not able to get to it in the next two days. Give me a couple of weeks and shoot me a PM, reimbursement not needed. Nice rifle!

Hi lagopus, I have a bunch of revolvers in that caliber. I may have saved the empty brass, I'll look. If I have any, couldn't I just mail them to you? Nial
