I assume that these Turkey's can't fly anyway! It's all rather fascinating to me over here. smile

There are quite a few driven shoots in UK that put turkeys and other exotic birds out just for decoration and a bit if fun .... they are not to be shot, just admired.

The season before last, I was picking up behind one chap when a full grown turkey came flying along the woodside. No kidding it looked like a Lancaster bomber, it was that big. The Gun in front of me raised his fowling piece at it and in spite of my calling out "No, no," shot it stone dead.

At the end of the drive, he sent his 'cocker (word for female dog rhyming with "titch" previously censored by this board!!) out to retrieve it. Now even as 'cockers go this wasn't a big one; suffice to say the wee dog struggled as best it could, then trotted back to yer man looking a bit puzzled as well it might.

I picked up the late departed, slung it over my shoulder and took it over to the Gun who said "I thought it was a cock pheasant."

"Yes, it's an easy mistake, isn't it?" wink

Cost him 100 fine from the estate owner!!
