Somehow I don't think Neidner ever saw that rifle. I'm also sure that if Neidner ever got that ham fisted applying letter stamps he would have given up metalwork of any type. A poor attempt to increase the value of the rifle? Perhaps.

The number applied beneath the action serial number could possibly be an issue or armoury/arsenal rack and position number. It certainly looks like it was applied by a different and more experienced hand.
