Unfortunately so Bill. Instead, he's going Steelhead fishing this weekend and I'm going to take my young grandson out to take his second Wild Turkey. We talked about the trip again yesterday afternoon and made our final decision. I've already phoned the Quality Inn in Sanford and cancelled our reservation. It's really a shame because we had a terrific time last year, met a lot of good people like you, Tom, Glen, Doug, et al, but we've been jerked around for five or six weeks now on the rifle thing and finally said "to **** with them". We had some interesting new stuff lined up to bring along too. Have fun and eat a pulled-pork for me!

I'm afraid not Bill, I'm a bit disappointed but at this stage in the game there is not much we could do, and I didn't want to have Ron make the long tip knowing he would not be able to play with his toys.... maybe next year.

A "heads up" for anyone who is planning to attend and doesn't have motel reservations--- I just talked to a friend of mine who lives in Sanford and he advised that the town is full of FEMA people who are being uprooted because of prior reservations for the weekend. As a consequence, room availability may be difficult.
As to weather, showers tomorrow, then sunny in the high 70's/ low 80's for the rest of the weekend.

Sorry to hear the double rifle boys won't be there this year, as I never had time to get over there for a visit at last year's event. I did speak with Bill Kempfler about two months ago about the 2011 Southern; Bill told me the event had been sold out for months, had a waiting list from vendors wanting any booth space that might become available from last minute cancellations, and that he had received more interest from European vendors this year than ever before.
Also, and for the first time ever, the LC Smith and Parker Collectors Associations will have their own exhibit tent; which will be located at the entry to the "dove" field. I'm looking forward to that experience, as the cramped confines of a 10' x 10' booth have made hosting our members and visitors very difficult at times! I encourage all Southern Side x Side attendees to be sure and visit us there.
Thanks, and I wish you all a safe trip.

John Roberts, I don't know where your weather report is coming from, but weather.com says the last rain will be mid Thursday and that Friday and Saturday will be sunny. Come on down, or, for you, come on up.

Well , there's a vacancy at the Jameson. Traveling companion is sick and can't make it and I don't look fwd. to that long drive alone so I canceled my reservation. Y'all have fun and keep the rest of us posted. Post lots of pictures and best to all.
