To my marginally educated mind, if the gun went off when the safety was on, that sounds more like a sear issue than a ST issue (ie, over-aggressive lightening of trigger pull).

Doverham, you're probably correct. I'll still not own another single trigger gun. BTW I've heard of other single trigger LC Smiths having this problem. It's a shame because the gun was in otherwise beautiful 95% condition.
Once a person gets used to double triggers they're great, you can change guns knowing that the barrel selection will always be the same. Not like with single triggers where every manufacturer does barrel selection differently (if they're selectable at all).

So what exactly is the issue here? If the gun goes "Click" with a flushing grouse, so what??? Bad primer, defective reload, bad firing pin, on & on. You would have probably missed bird anyway. Odds that problem is a bad RBL ST are slim to none. I personally have evolved from ST to DT and now back to ST because they are so reliable. Talking best of ST guns here; Win 21; Browning, RBL, etc.

I've never had a problem with SST's, but all my ST guns are O/U's or repeaters.

I'm new to the SxS world, and the two I bought recently are both DT's. And it has been some learning curve getting used to those, only just now getting a handle on them.
