i hope all of the fine sporting gents and ladies on this forum will appreciate the results of my last project. After acquiring my first double gun, I thought something nice to put my shells in while in the blind on Lake Christina would be fitting.
Now be nice, this is my first one of these, and there are some flaws (all the better to go with the ones on my gun!) and I have 2 more in the works that should turn out a little better than this one.
Solid Walnut hand rubbed with Tru-oil, partially blued hardware (ask me how hard this was!!) wool felt liner.

WoollyBugger:

Beautiful.

But are you really going to take them out into a duck blind? It seems far too nice to be sitting in the bottom of a blind with dog(s), gunners, spray, etc.

Very nice.

A leather handle on the top would really make it classy.

We take these old expensive double guns out into the blinds. Why not take out something nice to carry your cartridges in rather than the canvas sack most of us seem to use.

Very nice! I'll second Destry's sentiments.

The only thing I would recommend would be to make the top of the lid a free floating panel on the next one rather than glued on the way you have it. Gotta give the wood the ability to expand and contract at it's leisure or it will likely crack, sooner or later.

Where did you get the latch, if I may ask?
