It's been a 3-4 years since I've shot the Rem Gun Club shells, have to say that I don't remember ever having a misfire! I picked up cases of them when they were $3.49 a box, $34.00 a case, at one of the local Sporting Goods store. I always thought they were a decent shell. Shot them up at clays and birds. I still have sacks full of hulls, I use for reloading.
Picked up a couple of flats of 16 ga Polywads a few years back and thought they were a quality product-no problems whatsoever!

I shoot reloads and I have very few bad shells, maybe one in every 400 shots. I load the shells for about half of what they sell for new. I use high quality shot (Lawrence magnum) and I am constantly checking the powder charge, every 10 to 15 shells. I can't see what the manufactorers could possibly use to make their shells perform better. Reloading takes very little time, I'm wondering why more shooters don't reload. You can easily customize the load to what ever you want.

One of the good things about Gun Clubs, for inexpensive "promotional" loads: the hulls reload very well. I've shot more GC 12's than I have 20's, but those are the only misfires I've ever had. If I'd had appropriate RST 20's on hand, I would have used them on my recent quail hunt. I shoot them a lot when hunting, and in target events where misfires are particularly bad news--like the flurry at the UP SxS Shoot. But if you shoot several thousand rounds a year, mostly at targets and mostly of the "recreational" (as opposed to competitive) variety, reloading is definitely the way to go.

I have used both Polywad and RST shells for a number of years without any issues with either. Nor have I had a problem with any US factory 2 3/4 shells with the exception of a few failure to fire issues with remington in a 16ga citori which some cleaning and a new firing pin spring resolved permanently.
It is unfortunate if they (Polywad) have an issue that liability lawyers make them prone to hide rather than work smartly. That said I have never had an issue with polywad and intend to keep buying them. Double guns are fairly forgiving and if I do I have an issue I would catch it before the next shell goes in.
