Both ivory bead sights on my Stevens 5100 are broke so I would like to replace them. Yesterday, in my infinate wisdom, I took the front threaded sight post out and not wanting to loose it placed in on a large piece of clear tape. 5 minutes later I couldn't find the tape or the sight!!! (It's an age thing.) So I'm wondering if anybody knows what thread size I need for the front sight. Brownells lists ivory beads with thread sizes of 3-56 and 6-48.

The mid-barrel sight looks like it may be pressed in. I don't see a brass post there. It's broke off level with the rib. I suspect I will have to have this drilled out. When it's drilled out should I have it threaded so that I can put a treaded sight post sight in or use a pressed in ivory sight?

One other question. The red rubber butt pad on this Stevens 5100 is in good shape but worn so smooth that it easily slides off my jacket when I mount the gun. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to roughen this up with damaging it so it is not so slippery?

Thanks for your help and suggestions.
