You boys are lucky to have them, I've been on the scout for a magnum Ithaca 12 gauge for a long time.

Beauties. Both of them.
That long bar and window for the lump are conclusive characteristics. Thanks for the education.

We've been down the road on this gun before, and it is so interesting that I saved out the pictures and the picture of the ledger page that Walter posted last time --

A few years ago a local shop had a 7E serialed in the 500,000 range. It was a 12 bore and was stamped 2 3/4". I checked with Walt and that was the way it was made. I am not sure if the gun had the lug through the receiver bottom. That seems to be one way to recognize a magnum frame. Are there other ways, such as measurements ?

Walt told me it left the factory with 2 stocks. The one on gun is monte carls trap stock. He said the records did not indicate second barrel. Both barrels have serial no. to gun on them. Maybe back to Ithaca for second barrel? One is 30" other is 32". Can post more pictures tonite. Thanks for any thoughts. Bill

Bill, To answer your first question-it is rare. Julia had a 20 ga. 5E at auction 2 or 3 years ago that had the barrel lug come through the frame like the magnum. Wish I had bought it. Some interesting configurations in those last days of the NID for sure. Look forward to more photos. Congratulations on a fine piece!
