hello,
i understood the year 1984 is KB in a circle.
in crossed "swords" as above KB would be 1959.
i believe this to be correct, but will stand to
be corrected!
cheers
bill

Please ignore that . If it stars with a K it would be KB which is 1959, . Can't quite make out the bore size but as the chamber is marked as 70mm then the reproof must have been after 1985. after 1990 all measurements would be in metric. We could do with some clearer pictures if possible .Or tell me what the bore sizes are stampped It appears that there might be 3 sets of marks but could be mistaken .

There will be 2 letters on the date stamp the number is the view res ID and is irrelevant.

Joe the re proof pressure is 850 bars that superceeds the older otns per sq inch

All it takes is a little honing to make those marks irrelevant....

Gentlemen
I have a question,
The gun looks to have been re-proofed??
I see the 12-70 markings
What are the "13/1" markings?
Thanks
Mike

I see 2 1/2 and 12-70 which makes me guess that it had the chambers lengthened. It also says 13 and .719 on one barrel and 13/1 and .729 on the other.

Chamber lengthened and then re-proofed?

The gun is listed on line by Cabelas: http:/www.cabelas.com/product/JW-Tolley-BLNE-With-Makers-Case-Krupp-Steel/1117762.uts?Ntk=GunLibrary&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26Ntk%3DGunLibrary%26Ntt%3D891371%26x%3D20%26y%3D9&Ntt=891371

Forget the old marks . The only relevent ones are the 12-70 850 bars and the bore size .719 & .729.What confuses me is that there seems to be a discrepency in so much you have a mixture of metric and imperial. After 1984 bore size was either in millimeters or imperial equivolent .720 .728. pressure in Kg per sq Cm. .Bars came in in 1990 [actualy they started late 1989] and bores would be marked in metric.
Its got me puzzeld and without seeing it any thing else wuold be guessing. Realy need to see the proof date or get some background from the seller. Hate to say it and I do hope that this is not the case here but I have heard rumours of fake proof stamps in the U S .
