I'm pretty sure that gun is MESSED up. My records show that a 10g Purdey with the same serial # had 3 1/2" chambers and was not reproofed. Cabela's had it for a while, one other dealer had it before them.
Here's the original build specs from Purdeys:
Completed November 1883 for Col. A. de Lignieres, the gun later sold to T.
B. Wanamaker.
30" Damascus steel barrels, 2 5/8" chambers, chokes about 1/4 choke both
barrels.
3rd grip to action.
Stock length 15" mid.
Weight of gun 7lbs. 8 3/4 ozs.
Sticking stuff like that in an out-of-the-way auction is a classic was to move bad stuff.
