i went to g and h back about 81 when it was on broadway just below houston as i recall. could not afford anything but they were kind enough to let me look. went back later about 95 when they were somewhere else in manhatten i recall a holland and holland 410 as well as a h and h eight gauge hammer rifle. it was a beast and just the thought of pulling the trigger hurt shame ny is no longer gun friendly

The rail trip from Grand Central Terminal to Greenwich, CT is about 35 minutes. From the Greenwich station is only about a 4 minute cab ride to G&H.
There's another shop in Greenwich, EuroChasse. They may have good stuff but the one time I went in there they had such a large stick up their chasse I left very quickly. I was in denims and a wool coat, you may have better luck with European hunt wear. Look the part. It's across the street from the train station.

G&H will be opening another shop in Andover NJ at the Hudson Farm. The gunsmith shop will be moved there also in a massive building. They just got there FFL for the Farm topped with a new chef.

Just one observation. The G&H shop in Bernardsville is more like an hour maybe one hour 15 minutes, (traffic dependent) from Central Manhattan. Not the two hours mentioned above. I live very near it and had an office near 5th and 57th, so I'm familiar with the commute.

There have been a couple of threads about Eurochasse here, generally unfavorable for the reasons noted above. They seem to be Soup Nazi of gun sales, for those of you familiar with Seinfield.
Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

I'm always amazed how many gun stores (of all types, black guns thru doubles) project an image/attitude that is uninviting or worse, disparaging to, or of, the potentially new customers.

I share your amazement, but have to admit that the places where I have felt most uninvited have generally been lower end places with lots of black guns and pistols. At the other end of the spectrum, Griffin & Howe in Bernardsville have always been wonderful, the Beretta Gallery in London were very kind, and Purdey's was startlingly hospitable.

I always stop by the Beretta store in NYC monthly or when ever I am working in that part of town. Great people there. One charactor is Niles at Safari Outfitters he's a blast.
